  1. I learned Chris’s method of blending registers a few years ago and the one
thing I can say is that some days your chords will stress out within a few
songs of using his technique, and other days you can go 10+ songs before
you start noticing chord stress. Warming up is ABSOLUTELY critical.
Personally I don’t think its a technique that is healthy for long-term use,
as Chris’s voice sounds blown out almost constantly these days, and Brent
Smith doesn’t have the range he used to either.

  2. That’s what my How To Sing Better Than Anyone Else course is for on my
    KenTamplinVocalAcademy(dot)com site

  3. I really have the utter most respect for these students who have the
courage to show themselves in public when they are at their most vulnerable!

  4. Awesome..so what you are suggesting is to compress in the lung with the
throat and vocal chords open so as not to over compress and strain the
vocal chords directly..which is a safer way of producing tonal
    distortion..am i right?

  5. @kentamplin Thanks for your reply Ken, very interesting: You mentioned
somewhere about Axl Rose not modifying his vowel sounds. I guess that as he
was one of the pioneers of that intense sound there wasn’t really anyone at
that time who could’ve shown him how to do it relatively safely…. not
that it stopped him from sounding completely awsome!

  6. You have a great voice and a great program Ken. I’ve greatly enjoyed the
tips and principles I’ve gathered from watching them. You’ve helped save
and improve my voice with your studies on proper technique, and I can’t
    thank you enough! Cheers!

  7. I agree. That’s why I have developed the technique I have. I am 49 and have
never sung better however, it is critical to understand the correct use of
air with massive support and allowing this sound to season over time and
not slam into it….check out my version of Cochise and even my latest
version of Dio on my channel and you will see what I am talking about.
